Tabellara vs Folio: two guidebook-first platforms compared
Folio and Tabellara are the closest match in this comparison series: both are guidebook-first products for hosts, both sell simple per-property pricing, and both care about how the guide looks. The differences are in how the guide gets built, how much you learn after guests open it, and what each platform is building toward. This one comes down to details, so here are the details.
| Tabellara | Folio | |
|---|---|---|
| One guide, monthly | $6/mo, or $4.50/mo effective on annual billing (three months free). Guest WiFi $6 per network and Guest TV $6 per property with three TVs are separate products; all three at one property is $15 | $10 per guide/mo for 1 to 5 guides; monthly billing only, pausable |
| Ten guides | Still $6 flat per guide/mo, or $4.50 effective on annual | $8 per guide/mo |
| At scale | Still $6 flat at any count; $4.50 effective on annual | $7 per guide/mo at 11 to 25, $6 at 26 and up; custom quote at 100+ |
| Trying it | Build and preview free with no card and no clock; your first published guide, first WiFi network and first TV property are each free for 30 days, no card | 14-day free trial, then subscribe to keep your guide live; subscriptions can be paused |
| Building the guide | AI writes the whole guide from your Airbnb listing in about a minute: manual, rules, your photos placed, local recommendations researched and mapped | Template-based editor; Folio says a guide takes under ten minutes from a template, with optional listing import from a connected PMS |
| Design | Six layouts, fifteen themes, custom colors and your logo | One guide layout with logo and color branding; hosts praise the brand consistency across properties |
| Media | Photos imported in full resolution from your Airbnb listing, plus YouTube or Vimeo video on any card (tap to play) | Photos and videos |
| Analytics | Page-level: the ten most-read cards at a glance, every visitor session with city, state, device and the QR or deep link they arrived through, searchable, sortable and exportable to CSV, plus a counted tap on every quick link including book-direct | Guide view counts on the host dashboard |
| Multi-property | Start a new property as a copy of any guide; copy sections or single cards between guides; mark any guide as a template and link its sections, so one edit to house rules or checkout updates every property while each guide keeps its own arrival details and WiFi | Templates plus copy-a-guide; no live-linked shared sections advertised |
| Personalized guest links | Reservation-aware links: connect an Airbnb or OwnerRez listing and every booking gets its own link that greets the guest by name with their dates and party, sent automatically (Airbnb message five minutes after booking, or an OwnerRez template field) and expiring after the stay; the permanent guide link keeps working alongside it | Per-guide links; a per-reservation personalized guidebook page is not a documented feature |
| Languages | Automatic translations into 25 languages, included with every guide; guests are offered their own language on arrival | No translation feature advertised |
| Upsells | Toggleable quick links: book direct, early check-in, your website, custom links, every tap counted, no fees | Link out to your booking site from guide content |
| Integrations | Airbnb via Hospitable Connect, and OwnerRez with reservations and guest contacts syncing; more on the way | PMS integrations with Guesty, Lodgify, Hostaway, OwnerRez and Uplisting; Hospitable listed as coming soon |
| Collaboration | One host account per property today | Invite co-hosts to edit guides |
| Beyond the guidebook | Guest TV: a welcome by name on the television, the guide on screen, a rating from the remote that sends 4 and 5 stars to Google, and every app signed out at checkout, run by a Guest Journey set once per property. Guest WiFi: a branded sign-in page on your UniFi equipment that captures every guest's email | Guidebooks are the product |
| Selling extras | Guest Store on every plan: sell early check-in, late check-out, and extras from inside the guide. Guests pay your own Stripe account directly (you are the merchant of record), each item is instant or approve-first on a window you choose, and Tabellara's fee is 2% per completed order | An in-guide store is not a documented feature |
| Earning from local tours | Tick one box and Viator tours near the house appear in the guide's Local Experiences section and on the Guest TV screensaver, each with a code to book; 4% of every booking is paid to you through your own Stripe account | Not a documented feature |

Pricing: close at one, apart at ten
Folio charges $10 a guide for the first five, $8 at ten, and floors at $6 from twenty-six guides up. Tabellara is a flat $6 from the very first guide, and annual billing takes it to $4.50 effective. So Tabellara starts where Folio's best volume rate ends, and annual pulls below anything on Folio's ladder. Folio's pay-as-you-go simplicity is genuinely nice; Tabellara's flat rate is simply lower at every count.
Ten minutes versus one
Folio's own onboarding pitch is that you can create a guide from a template in under ten minutes, and if you run on Guesty, Hostaway, Lodgify, OwnerRez or Uplisting it can import your listing details to start. For a template workflow that is quick. Tabellara replaces the workflow: connect your Airbnb through Hospitable, click once, and the AI writes the complete guide from your actual listing, describes and places your amenity photos on the right pages, and researches real local restaurants and attractions onto the map. Ten minutes of working a template versus one minute of reviewing a draft, multiplied by every property you manage.
One good look versus six
Folio's guides are stylish, and hosts managing several properties praise how consistent the branding stays. Tabellara starts from the same bar and adds range: the same content renders as six different layouts, from friendly tiles to a full-photo glass look to a moody serif for design-forward properties, with fifteen themes and custom colors underneath. Consistency when you want it, personality when the property has one.
What happens after you share the link
This is the widest gap. Folio tracks guest usage of your guide link. Tabellara measures the guide the way you would want to edit it: the ten most-read cards, then every visitor session with city, state, device and the QR or deep link they came in through, searchable, sortable and exportable to CSV, plus a counted tap on every quick link, so the book-direct button and the early check-in offer report their own results. If you plan to improve your guide over time, page-level numbers are what you improve it with.
Where Folio wins
Co-host editing, so a partner or manager can maintain guides with you. PMS integrations with Guesty, Lodgify, Hostaway, OwnerRez and Uplisting, a real convenience if you already run on one of them. And the ability to pause a subscription. Folio is a well-made product with visibly happy hosts; nothing here says otherwise.
Where Tabellara wins
The build: one minute from a connected listing versus template assembly. The range: six layouts versus one. The feedback loop: page-level analytics, a searchable visitor table and counted quick-link taps versus usage tracking. Automatic translations into 25 guest languages, included, versus none advertised. Portfolio work: templates whose sections stay live-linked across properties, which Folio's templates and copy-a-guide do not do. A flat $6 that never climbs, with annual billing that undercuts at every count. Free building with no trial clock. Reservation-aware links that greet each guest by name and expire after the stay. And a screen beyond the phone: Tabellara TV, the guide on the property's own television.
The bottom line
These two are solving the same problem, so the decision is mostly arithmetic and taste: if you want co-host editing or a hookup to Guesty, Lodgify, Hostaway, OwnerRez or Uplisting today, Folio earns the pick. If you want the guide written for you, more looks to choose from, real analytics, and a lower curve as you grow, that is Tabellara, and finding out costs nothing since building is free.
